FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Powerbreather is the snorkel of the next generation! Your snorkeling or swimming experience will be different.
Due to the two air tubes, the Powerbreather will constantly supply you with 100% fresh air with no Carbon Dioxide build up in the Snorkel tube.
You breathe the same as with a common snorkel. You inhale and exhale through the mouthpiece.
It does feel a little different so try it briefly outside the water before you start swimming.
Also when you first get into the water, go to a depth of about shoulder height. Put your head, with the Powerbreather on, under water. So your mouth and nose are submerged. The ends of the D-tubes remain above surface at all times. Start to steadily and fully inhale and exhale through the mouth for about 4 to 5 minutes. Then start swimming at a moderate pace.
You may notice a slight resistance while breathing. This is due to the valves of the AMEO FRESH AIR SYSTEM that on the one hand supply the swimmer with 100% fresh air and on the other hand prevent water from entering the Powerbreather.
After a few swimming sessions this will feel completely normal.

A swimming cap is not required but will improve the fit of the Powerbreather on your head. This is especially useful when swimming fast with fins or when performing flip turns.
We discourage performing racing dives with the Powerbreather. Doing so could remove the Powerbreather from your head and potentially cause injury.
The TWIST LOCK SYSTEM (locking system) ensures that the Powerbreather can be adjusted to any head size.
The D-TUBES (air tubes) can be adjusted to a head width of 17.5 cm. It is not recommended to pull the tubes further apart than 17.5 cm, as the EASY FIT AIR JUNCTION (mouthpiece) could get damaged otherwise.
Experience shows that the Powerbreather can be adjusted for children from 7 years and up. As all children are unique. The age given varies between children.
Children who use a Powerbreather should already be confident swimmers and only use a Powerbreather under adult supervision.
No, there is only one size of Powerbreather.
The Powerbreather can be adjusted individually in order to be suitable for children and teenagers of about 7 years or older. The mouthpiece can be replaced as well, allowing everyone to freely select their preferred mouthpiece.
Children who use a Powerbreather should already be confident swimmers and only use a Powerbreather under adult supervision.
The mouthpiece – the EASY FIT AIR JUNCTION – must remain firmly in position during swimming. This is why it does not rotate easily.
Under cold temperatures or during first delivery, the EASY FIT AIR JUNCTION might be more difficult to move.
It helps to run the mouthpiece under warm water a few times before using the Powerbreather.
The TWIST LOCK SYSTEM refers to the dial locking device at the back of the Powerbreather. It ensures comfortable adjustment for any head size and a secure fit – even during fast flip turns.
The EASY FIT AIR JUNCTION is the adjustable mouthpiece that brings the D-TUBES (air tubes) into the correct position. It ensures a secure fit and maximum comfort.
Yes, the Powerbreather is perfectly suitable for swimming long distances.
Due to the innovative valve technology of the AMEO FRESH AIR SYSTEM, you will constantly and inhale 100% fresh air without carbon dioxide build up. Increasing your endurance performance when compared to traditional swim snorkels.
In theory, you can use the Powerbreather for an unlimited amount of time. The risk of pendulum breathing, i.e. increased inhalation of performance-reducing carbon dioxide, is completely eliminated.
Furthermore, the design of the Powerbreather features a secure fit, no pressure on the head, and a 180 degree view: benefits that have a lasting positive effect especially during longer swimming distances.
Using the Powerbreather you can perform any swimming style in a prone position, such as breaststroke, crawl, and butterfly stroke. The Powerbreather is not suitable for swimming backstroke.
While swimming with the Powerbreather, you can train both your swimming and breathing technique.
Since turning the head to the left or right while breathing is no longer necessary, you can fully concentrate on your arm and leg work. This allows you to improve efficiency, position in the water, and technique.
If you want to specifically train your breathing technique and respiratory muscles, you can choose from SPEED VENTS of different resistances:
1. As a standard, each Powerbreather is delivered with the SPEED VENT easy, which has minimal breathing resistance. Perfect for any recreational athlete or snorkeler.
2. The SPEED VENT medium (medium breathing resistance) and SPEED VENT power (high breathing resistance) are suitable for competitive swimmers, triathletes and free divers with the target of specifically training breathing technique and respiratory muscles.
All additional parts are available in our onlineshop.
Yes, a flip turn is possible with the Powerbreather. Please check the following instructions:
- As you approach the turn, breathe normally through your mouth. Take a breath in before you begin the turn.
- As you are rotating and flipping over, breathe about 20% of the air out gently through your nose.
- As you push off, gently exhale the remaining 80% of air through your mouth once you are back in a facedown position.
It is important to make sure you exhale through the mouth when returning to the facedown position.
Less experienced swimmers often do not realize that they mainly exhale through the nose when making a flip turn. People who do that will always find water in the D-Tubes when getting back to the surface.
Once you get the hang of it, you will not want to do flip turns with any training equipment other than the Powerbreather.
The following is important when it comes to performing “dry flip turns” . i.e. the D-Tubes are free of water when surfacing.
• Inhale sufficient air before attempting the flip turn
• Calmly exhale most of the inhaled air through the mouth only when back in facedown position
Tip: Using the optional FLIP CAPS makes performing flip turns even easier.

The Powerbreather can be used with any common goggles. Click here for a selection.
The Powerbreather can be worn with diving goggles for snorkeling. The diving goggles should not exceed a width of 17cm.
With our BEACH edition, we offer a Powerbreather and diving goggles as a set.
You can use the Powerbreather in combination with fins.
The TWIST LOCK SYSTEM ensures a secure fit of the Powerbreather on the head. With an additional swimming cap, the Powerbreather can be fixed to the head in such a way that it remains perfectly secure on the head without causing any pressure, even during higher speeds.
The FRESH AIR SYSTEM features a special valve system that supplies you constantly with 100% fresh air and at the same time prevents water from entering the tubes.
When you start using a Powerbreather, you may notice the valves cause a slight resistance during inhalation. After a few sessions with the Powerbreather, this will not be noticeable. Using the Powerbreather, you will automatically learn deep abdominal breathing. This is a further benefit to your health and wellbeing. No, the Powerbreather is not a diving apparatus!
Using the Powerbreather, you can breathe only when the valve caps (SPEED VENTS) at the end of the D-TUBES (air tubes) are located above the surface.
If the SPEED VENTS are underwater, water will enter the D-TUBES if you inhale. The Powerbreather features two air tubes (D-TUBES) that run parallel to the head.If above surface you will receive sufficient fresh air when breathing.
Exhalation is carried out through the mouth forward into the water. We call that the FRESH AIR SYSTEM.
For that reason, the Powerbreather cannot be compared with a common snorkel, since inhalation and exhalation do not occur within the same system.
Subsequently, pendulum breathing (which causes accumulation of Co2 in the Snorkel tube and a drop in performance) is being eliminated.
Due to the valve technology of the FRESH AIR SYSTEM, no water can enter the respiratory system. Any trace saliva and moisture are automatically removed through the mouthpiece into the water when exhaling. The main differences between a Powerbreather and a common snorkel or swim snorkel (e.g. Finis, Arena or Aqua Sphere) are:
Yes, the Powerbreather is perfectly suitable for all fans of snorkeling..
The Powerbreather is the only snorkel with which you can dive underwater without having to blow out water when resurfacing.
Intelligent valves prevent water from entering and let any potential water during long and deep dives escape automatically via natural exhalation.
The two-channel air system supplies you constantly with fresh, oxygen-rich air.
You can snorkel as long as you want and even swim longer distances without any problem wearing fins.
No, the Powerbreather is not a diving apparatus!
Using the Powerbreather, you can breathe only when the valve caps (SPEED VENTS) at the end of the D-TUBES (air tubes) are located above the surface.
If the SPEED VENTS are underwater, water will enter the D-TUBES when you inhale.
Rinse your Powerbreather with fresh water after each use and then let it dry.
To do so, simply remove the valve attachments (SPEED VENTS) from the upper end of the D-TUBES (air tubes). For further details, please refer to the user manual. When the Powerbreather has been exposed to sand, simply rinse it carefully under clear water.
To do so, remove the valve attachments from the end of the D-TUBES (air tubes). Rinse the open D-TUBES as well.
Then let all the parts dry thoroughly. For further details, please refer to the user manual.
The original mouthpiece of the Powerbreather can be bought separately in the Online shop.
The adapter of the mouthpiece has been designed in such a way that any commercially available mouthpiece can be used.
With D-TUBES we refer to two tubes (air tubes) on the right and left that rest comfortably on the head.
They are solely meant for inhaling. Exhalation is carried out forward into the water.
As a result, there is no risk of Co2 build up in the D-tubes.
The SPEED VENTS refer to the attachments on the D-TUBES (air tubes).
They feature a patented valve technology that prevents water from entering during breathing.
For further respiratory training, we offer additional options with higher resistance – the SPEED VENT medium and SPEED VENT power.
The SPEED VENTS should not sit too loosely on the D-Tubes in order for the vents not to disengage during swimming and also to prevent any leakage.
In order to facilitate installing and removing, one can lubricate the D-Tubes at the top end as well as the Speed Vents on the inside of the lower opening with Vaseline.
